Our average costs are between £500 and £3,000 plus VAT for a sale and between £1,000 and £5,000 plus VAT for a purchase.

Our hourly rates are as below:

Partner £425 plus VAT (approx.)
Solicitor or in-house Barrister £350 plus VAT (approx.)
Paralegal or Legal Trainee £175 plus VAT (approx.)

Costs quoted here do not include:

  • Other expenses, such as HM Land Registry fees, relevant searches and other third-party costs which may be required

We will let you know at the earliest opportunity if any of these costs are applicable.

Please note these rates apply from January 2019 and will be reviewed annually.

 

When purchasing a property, the buyer has the burden to ensure they conduct the relevant searches of the property. Typical disbursements incurred when purchasing a property include:

  • Property search fees of around £300 including VAT.
  • Furthermore, when purchasing a property, the buyer may be liable to pay Stamp Duty Land Tax this is dependent on the value of the property and the circumstances of the individual, however, usually ranges between 0% and 12% of the purchase price. This is not subject to VAT.
  • Land Registry Document Fees are typically £3.90 including VAT per document.
  • Land Registry Registration Fees are dependant on the purchase price of the property however range between £20 and £680 and are not subject to VAT.
  • Bank Transfer Fees of £42 plus VAT per transaction

When selling a property, the seller’s disbursements are likely to include:

  • Land Registry Document Fees are typically £3.90 including VAT per document.
  • If applicable, Indemnity Insurance typically costs around £30 to £60 and is not subject to VAT.
  • If the property is leasehold, then Management Agent Fees may be applicable and depend entirely on the Management Agent used.
  • If applicable, Estate Agent Fees typically cost between 0.75% and 3% of the sale price plus VAT

Our fees and some disbursements are subject to VAT at 20%.
