IMMIGRATION, IMMIGRATION, IMMIGRATION

New immigration rules are coming into force from 1 January 2021 which will create a ‘point based system’. 70 will be the magic number for entry into the UK.

Each applicant will be required to have a job with a skill level equivalent to A level or above and be able to speak English at a level appropriate for their role. There will also be a salary threshold requirement: £25,600 (the general threshold), or the going salary rate for the applicant’s intended job, whichever is higher.

If the applicant does not reach the salary threshold, they can ‘top up’ their points by, for example, by having a job offer in a sector which currently has shortage of staff, or having a PhD relevant to their role. However, the absolute minimum salary of £20,480 must be met.

Should you have any immigration queries, please contact John Szepietowski at Audley Chaucer.
